R. GWYN THOMAS - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF INFORMING HEALTHCARE WALES

Informing Healthcare was established in 2003 by the Welsh Assembly Government and is one of the key enablers for 'Designed for Life', the national strategy to deliver world-class health and social care for Wales. Informing Healthcare's approach is to introduce new processes through incremental service improvement projects in full co-operation and partnership with clinicians, local health communities patients and public. These projects are ensuring that new information services are based on sound evidence and deliver benefits as early as possible. (http://www.wales.nhs.uk/IHC/)

Dr. Thomas held a previous role as Chief Executive of the NHS Information Authority. He is credited with leading the Authority through a highly productive period, overseeing its creation from the merger of a number of pre-existing organisations and shaping it to deliver an extensive portfolio of high profile national projects and services.

 

DR. BENJAMIN STEIN, MD - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LONG ISLAND PATIENT INFORMATION EXCHANGE (LIPIX)

LIPIX is an independent not-for-profit corporation established to develop a Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO), aka a Health Information Exchange (HIE), on Long Island.   The objective is to create an achievable, sustainable and replicable solution for integrating clinical information across multiple health care organizations, which supports New York State and Federal strategic HIT plans to improve access to patient data at the point of care, improve health care quality, and reduce inappropriate health care resource utilization (http://www.lipix.org/)

Before founding LIPIX, Benjamin Stein, MD was the Director of Clinical Information Systems at North Shore-LIJ Health System. In addition to training in computer science and completing a fellowship in medical informatics, Dr. Stein is a board certified and actively practicing Emergency Physician. Previously, Dr. Stein was the Director of Medical Informatics at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and lead the implementation of a successful CIS and CPOE implementation there, focusing heavily on the implementation of clinical decision support to improve health care quality and efficiency

 

KERRY STRATTON -  INTERSYSTEMS, MANAGING DIRECTOR – HEALTHCARE

Current role in strategic global healthcare sales and in the ongoing development and execution of InterSystems’ healthcare strategy. Previously Chief Executive of TrakHealth, a recognized healthcare technology innovator from 1991 to 2003. TrakHealth providing advanced, fully integrated hospital information systems to more than 300 healthcare organizations in 20 countries. Managing Director at Heyden-Spike 1987-1991, an Australian provider of healthcare and transportation application and as Director of Détente Systems 1982-1987, a provider of laboratory, radiology and other clinical systems that has been acquired by Reston, VA-based QuadraMed Corp. Began career as a medical scientist working in a number of leading hospitals in Sydney Australia then in Auckland N.Z. as a specialist cytologist returning to Sydney in the mid 1970’s to work for a large private practice.

 

EITHNE REICHERT, RN, BSCN, MN, CLINICAL LEAD - SASKATCHEWAN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE PROJECT

Responsible for business requirements gathering, development of business/clinical models and coordinating change management activities with stakeholder engagement.  Analysis and coordination with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and other allied professions in urban and rural Primary Health Care settings.  Integration and interoperability with other clinical applications development.

Prior to this Ms. Reichert was Project Director - Saskatchewan Client Registry – Planning & Implementation Phases, responsible for communication, project control & reporting of progress to Infoway Registries Program & Saskatchewan Health; overall responsibility for stakeholder engagement, presentation and communication to provincial and intra-provincial, and national groups.  Oversight of all business, finance, privacy, technical and interoperability activities for the project. Before that she was Project Lead  - Saskatchewan Electronic Health Record – Planning Phase – Clinical Health Record Track, responsible for planning the Health Record services for the Saskatchewan Integrated EHR; including Standards Development & Adoption, Data Integration, and Clinical Business Requirements and EHR Data Management.

 

JOSE MUSSI, PARTNER, JRS PARTNERS INC, TORONTO - CANADA

José Mussi brings over 30 years of experience in architecting and implementing very large, complex and globally deployed systems. He is a recognized thought leader in Electronic Health Record solutions.  Until 2006, José was the senior group director and EHR architect for clinical domains at Canada Health Infoway, http://www.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/Home/ responsible for developing the vision and solution architecture (business, conceptual and technical) for the Pan-Canadian interoperable Electronic Health Record (iEHR). As member of the Infoway management team from its early stages, he participated in key initiatives that defined how to best reach such ambitious mission, including:

    Creating the Pan-Canadian EHRS Blueprint

    Developing corporate business plan

    Definition of corporate programs and funding envelopes

    Establishment of investment guidelines and eligibility criteria

    Privacy and Security requirements and architecture

    Pan-Canadian Standards Collaboration Process (SCP)

A founding partner of JRS Partners, a consulting firm dedicated to healthcare information technology, José has been the lead architect in several jurisdictional EHR initiatives across Canada.
In addition, José has been closely involved with IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) activities in North America. He helped create IHE Canada and is currently its Executive Director.
He has also contributed to several IHE profile development efforts, including XDS, XDS-I and PIX/PDQ v3

 

 

SCOT JOHNSON - INDUSTRY DIRECTOR ORACLE HEALTH SCIENCES GLOBAL BUSINESS UNIT

Scot Johnson is an Industry Director for Oracle's Health Sciences Global Business Unit.  Mr. Johnson is focused on standards-based clinical information access, sharing and reuse initiatives working with public and private health care organizations throughout the US and Canada.  He's an active participant on national standards adoption bodies such as the ONC Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) Care Delivery Technical Committee and the Canada Infoway Shared Collaborative Working Group

 

MR. LARS RÅDH  - ACTING CEO OF SJUKVÅRDSRÅDGIVNINGEN SVR AB (SWEDISH HEALTHCARE ADVISORY ORGANIZATION).

Prior to becoming acting CEO, he was the SVR marketing manager and headed up the national Vården På Webben (Health Care on the Web) project.

Previously Mr Rådh was the CEO and Managing Director of Kvalita Hälso Och Sjukvård, a private caregiver.

Mr Rådh was a leading Stockholm public official in 1995-2000, including Commissioner of Education and Labour. He has been the Chairman of the Institute of Municipal Finances and a deputy board member of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities. In 2001, the government appointed him as special investigator for reception of refugees in Sweden. He submitted his report in 2003

 

STEVE SHIHADEH - VICE PRESIDENT – SALES, MARKETING & SOLUTIONS
HEALTH SOLUTIONS GROUP, MICROSOFT CORPORATION

As vice president – sales, marketing and solutions for Microsoft’s Health Solutions Group, Steve Shihadeh is responsible for Microsoft’s worldwide go-to-market strategy, sales, services and customer relationships.  His efforts are part of Microsoft’s commitment to improve health, around the world.  The Health Solutions Group is focused on becoming a leading provider of health solutions to health enterprises and consumers alike. http://www.microsoft.com/hsg/

Steve Shihadeh brings more than 25 years of broad experience and success in healthcare sales, marketing and management. In his previous role as GM for Microsoft Health & Life Sciences he led his team to record sales and recognition as the company’s top Industry subsidiary. Before joining Microsoft in 2003, he led the North American sales and services while Senior Vice President of Sales at Siemens Medical Solutions. Siemens is one of the world’s largest suppliers of healthcare equipment, renowned for its innovative products, services and complete IT solutions.

 

CED BUFTON  -  MANAGING DIRECTOR  BIDETIME LTD

Bidetime is  a leading supplier of performance management and business  intelligence solutions to the UK Healthcare market. Formed in 1984, they currently have over 50 NHS clients. Bidetime are currently working with their clients, development partners and professional organisations (e.g. HfMA) to improve the performance of Health organisations by using a mix of information delivery, score carding and best practice implementation.  
Ced Bufton  has been involved in the Healthcare market since 1987 when he designed, and Bidetime implemented, ICL's Case Mix solution for the Resource Management Initiative. In past years he has presented the "Future of Health IM&T"   to the Health Service in New Zealand (1991), designed a hospital management system for ICL Italy (1992) and  acted as a project manager on HISS implementations for a leading supplier (1993-5). In recent years he has built   Bidetime's current portfolio of products and clients and presented at conferences on the company’s "vision of performing healthcare".   

 

DIXIT SHAH  - SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER -  IRISH PUBLIC SECTOR AT COGNOS, AN IBM COMPANY.

Cognos is a leading global provider of Performance Management software in many industries including Healthcare. Dixit Shah has over 18 years experience in providing Performance Management solutions to customers throughout the world including many in the Public Sector such as the Association of Chief Police Officers of Scotland (ACPOS), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) in England.

RAN GOSHEN MD PH.D. - CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER - DBMOTION
Dr. Ran Goshen has served as a consultant to institutional investors, venture firms and medical device start-ups and prior to joining dbMotion (www.dbmotion.com). Was the Director of Life Sciences at Israel Seed Partners. Dr. Goshen is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Hebrew University/Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem and in Gynaecologic Oncology from the University of Toronto. He also holds a Ph.D. in cell biology from the Institute of Life Sciences at Hebrew University and is the author of numerous scientific publications that focus on cancer biology and hereditary cancer in peer reviewed medical and scientific journals. Dr. Goshen is a member of various international medical associations and a formal reviewer of several gynaecological journals. In addition to his position with dbMotion, Dr. Goshen maintains his practice as an active clinician.

 

GUS DAVIDSON - CLINICAL SYSTEMS DIRECTOR - GENERAL HEALTHCARE GROUP
Prior to transferring from Netcare to GHG (General Healthcare Group owns BMI Healthcare, the UK’s premier private health care provider with acute care private patient hospitals and outpatient centres in 56 locations around the UK and over 2,600 beds) to take up the role of Clinical Systems Director, Gus was the IT Director for Netcare UK responsible for the Information Management and Technology to deliver NHS contracts. Gus has a technical background in electrical engineering, quality assurance, and project management and computer science. He moved to the UK in 1992 to establish a UK subsidiary for Netronic Software GmbH, providing graphical reporting for the petrochemical, banking and defense industries. He subsequently worked as a self employed consultant for 10 years for a variety of corporate clients including Zurich Financial Services, ICL, Vosper Thorneycroft delivering rapid change to key management areas.

 

SHANE TICKELL COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR -  IMS MAXIMS PLC 
Shane heads up Strategy, Sales, Marketing and commercial relationships with clients, third parties and partner organisations (www.imsmaxims.com). Bringing over a decade of experience in the e-health sector, formally the UK & Ireland Account Director at iSOFT plc, with specific responsibility for the CSC (Computer Science Corporation) NpfIT contract and having been the UK & I Specialist Systems sales Manager at Torex Health prior to the merger with iSOFT. With a background working with a number of specialist systems companies and purchasing and supply at the Portland Hospital for Women and Children in London.  

 

MARTIN BUCKLEY – DIRECTOR OF ICT, ST JAMES’S HOSPITAL
Martin Buckley has been Head of ICT at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin for the past 16 years, having had previous experience in the broader Irish Health Sector. St. James’s Hospital has emerged as the largest acute teaching hospital in Ireland, following two decades of rapid expansion and change of which ICT played a key role.

 

AMANDA GREEN, GENERAL MANAGER – CERNER IRELAND

Amanda Green has more than 20 years experience in the I.T business. She started her career as a software developer with Xerox, spending more than 13 years in a variety of technical and then commercial roles. Her final position was as European Sales and Marketing Director for Chrystal Software, a Xerox company, delivering content management solutions to a diverse portfolio of industries. Interested in the application of I.T to Healthcare she joined CSW as their Business Development Director. CSW was, at that time, consolidating it's presence in the UK Healthcare market and Amanda was instrumental in its policy to partner with "big hitters" like Oracle and BT who could support CSW's growth aspirations. Amanda moved to Newchurch Ltd, a Healthcare consultancy company in 2002 and spent 3 years as Sales Director working to position the company for success under the UK National Programme for I.T (NPfIT). She joined Cerner in 2006 eager to apply her diverse technical and commercial background to a company focussed entirely on the delivery of I.T to Healthcare. She was the UK Sales and Commercial Lead for 2 years and has just become the first General Manager of Cerner Ireland. (www.cerner.ie)

 

GEORGE DASKALOS, REGIONAL SALES MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL SALES REGION, MEDITECH, INC.
George Daskalos has a B.A from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Bentley College. He has 23 years of direct healthcare IT experience implementing and servicing MEDITECH application software. For last 10 years he has been responsible for MEDITECH's Sales and Marketing efforts in the UK, Ireland and Caribbean.

 

PHILIP SHEEHAN MBA FOUNDER/ MANAGING DIRECTOR - DIGICARE LTD.
Has a B.Sc in Biological Sciences and an MBA in Healthcare from Benedictine University, Lisle, Illinois, USA.  Was the Project Manager – Galway Clinic Development – IT/Telecoms/HCIS/PACS and subsequently the ICT manager. In 2007 he founded DIGICARE Ltd. – A Healthcare IT Consulting Company to advance the technology of hospitals and healthcare organisations so as to improve the quality of patient care.
